I finally was able to get my son (age 5) out to scooter around our town. It is a cool day and very windy but he made it! 2 1/4 miles and I was really working on challenging him at speed. I was running/walking while he was scootering. He also informed me he might do a 5k with me and that this was training for it. I am so thrilled. There is some cash involved…..$10 if he beats me in a 5k! He wanted $100!

I really didn’t want to be at the gym this morning….but i went anyway. Getting bored with my cardio so I tried mixing it up as much as possible. I did several minutes with running/walking intervals, several minutes with increased incline and some plain old running and walking.

Not good! It is so important to get into the gym just to relieve all the stresses of life. There are going to be so many more times when I feel like not going and I really need to make an effort to not take these days “off”. It has always been a vicious cycle with me when life gets a little tough” all things considered it could be worse” yet going to the gym to burn the calories and relieve stress would be the best way to handle it.

This picture is my Dad. He is my hero. He passed away on April 7, 2007. If he could see me now! I know that he is with me all the time. Every day that goes by I can hear him give me the confidence I need to be healthy. When I cross any finish line I always think of him and all that he did for me, my brother, my sister and my mom while growing up. I have one goal in mind at this point in my life. I have spent the last 30 years over weight, obese and now morbidly obese. When my Dad was sick and after he passed away and a trip to NYC Marathon with my sister and her very athletic friends running in it, something clicked and on September 7, 2007 I began this journey. With each 10 pounds down I keep adding more goals. I have done a few 5K's and 1 10K and by this time 9/09 I would like to have finished my 1st sprint triathlon! I have so many people to thank for all the continued support, My husband, my kids, my trainer, my families in New England and all my friends here in NJ. It would be impossible with out them! I know what it takes now to be healthier and I am finally on the right path.
